Further investigation reveals that the MSHTML+JScript implementation of
setTimeout requires that the supplied callback be a function within the DOM's private script collection, so it isn't clear how it ever could have worked with an external function exposed by ClearScript.This requirement might be a cross-site security measure. Fortunately, as you can see above, it is relatively easy to work around :)
